HobbyGaia - Collections - Restoration, author unknown. Due to the price of paintings, buying at a bargain price to restore at home may be the solution. The choice will not be easy, and should fall back on a painting that is not very important, preferably not very large, always avoiding the possibility of less achieved results, but at the same time an interesting painting, whether due to affection, quality, age or theme, and thus be able to fully guarantee the work that will be dispensed to him. In this case, the first situation was quickly verified and overcome: it was not signed, which somehow reduced its importance, although it cannot be considered a rule. It was still a relatively small painting and proved to be quite well done, with a very pleasant theme, and of appreciable age (as evidenced by the old canvas label on the back with the name of its maker and its five-digit telephone number, (today they use ten in Italy) and apparently original, which provided some precious indications about its long life. First I gave it a good cleaning with white petrolium, or anacrosine and it was repainted in the missing parts, trying to keep the colors originals. Because of the small differences in brightness, I applied a little Winsor Newton retouching varnish, making it more homogeneous. The time spent on this intervention was about two hours, as it was a relatively small painting , but enough to completely change its visual appearance, and even its value, if the aim were to resell it.

I applied a frame that was also restored and that was available precisely for such a situation. This intervention is highly recommended on my part, for its ease of execution, delicacy, and above all as an excellent exercise for introducing and training to the almost always considered mysterious world of color mixing!!!

A escolha não será fácil, e devera recair num quadro nao muito importante, de preferencia nao muito grande, evitando sempre a possibilidade de resultatos menos conseguidos, mas ao mesmo tempo numa pintura interessante, quer seja por afecto, por qualidade, por idade ou por tema, e assim possa garantir amplamente o trabalho que lhe ira ser dispensado. Neste caso a primeira situaçao foi rapidamente verificada e ultrapassada: nao era assinado o que de alguma forma lhe retirava importancia, embora nao possa ser considerado uma regra. Tratava-se ainda de uma pintura relativamente pequena sobre um tema sempre agradavel e bastante bem conseguido poderei dizer, e de idade apreciavel (comprovada pela velha etiqueta do telaio na parte posterior com o nome do seu fabricante e seu numero telefonico de cinco digitos, (hoje usam-se dez em Italia) e aparentemente original, o que fornecia algumas indicaçoes preciosas acerca da sua longa vida, e como o seu preço era extremamente baixo, foi imediatamente aquisitado precisamente para restaurar. Primeiro fiz-lhe uma boa limpeza com petrolio branco, ou anacrosina e foi repintado nas partes em falta, tentando manter as cores originais. Por causa das pequenas diferenças de brilho, apliquei-lhe um pouco de verniz de retoques da Winsor Newton, tornando-o mais homogeneo. O tempo dispendido com esta intervençcao foi de duas horas cerca, pois tratava-se de uma pintura relativamente pequena, mas o suficiente para lhe alterar completamente o seu aspecto visual, e inclusivamente o seu valor, se o objectivo fosse revender-lo.

Apliquei-lhe uma moldura tambem ela restaurada e que se encontrava disponivel precisamente para uma situacao destas. Intervento muito aconselhado da minha parte, pela sua facilidade de execuçao, delicadeza, e indicado acima de tudo como excelente exercicio de introduçao e treino, ao quase sempre considerado misterioso mundo da mistura das cores!!!
